The Lab
The lab that this salvia is extracted is totally certified. All of the lab techs are absolutely qualified to make these extracts. The lab techs are either certified or have a college degree in chemistry, botany, or in some cases both.

First Step
The first step that this extract goes through is known as the pre- HPLC. The acronym HPLC stands for High Performance Liquid Chromatograph. A HPLC is a test that maps the alkaloids within the salvia divinorum leaf. Once this is done, the proper amount of leaf is then selected for the extraction process. Because of the HPLC test, the salvia always has a constant salvinorin-a content. So you know your 20x for example will always have at least 72mg of salvinorin-a per gram.

The Second Step
The second step is the actual extraction. The salvia is mixed in with pure grain alcohol to insure purity. Pure grain alcohol is much safer than other chemicals that many companies use such as acetone.

The Third Step
After the extraction another HPLC test is done on the extract, to insure enough salvinorin-a was extracted into the leaf.

The Forth Step
The forth step includes a final HPLC test to find the final content of salvinorin-a in the extract. If it is less that what is needed it is sold as the grade of extract below what it was originally made to be. For example if 10x was made, the content should be 36mg of salvinorin-a per gram. If the final test finds less than that the extract will be sold as a very strong 5x. At this point there is a finished standardized extract, which is then sold fresh to the consumer.
